Nordbygg a driving force in the industry’s innovation work
Nordbygg + Nordic ConTech = true. With the launch of the construction and housing industry’s innovation platform Nordic ConTech at this year’s Nordbygg, a ball of innovation was set in motion. The initiative was very much appreciated and left people wanting more. Already, a large innovation arena is being planned for Nordbygg 2020.
The digital development is rushing and permeates, or even controls, all of our existence. This is not least so for the trade and industry companies and society’s institutions. One area, however, that has fallen behind in the digital race is the construction and housing sector. There is a lot of streamlining to be done here.
– Nordbygg wants to contribute to that, says Project Manager Peter Söderberg. With our arena, we are a proactive industry actor and we have the advantage of being neutral.
A neutral driver
Precisely the neutral position is important, since it lets Nordbygg take initiatives that benefit all who are active within construction and housing. An example of such an initiative was to present Nordic ConTech at this year’s fair, the construction and housing industry’s platform for innovation and development. In addition to an exhibition, the launch program also included an extensive conference program and guided tours to selected exhibitors.
– We had a great response from visitors. We were sort of modest about it and didn’t know how it would be received, says Daniel Dahlström at Svensk Byggtjänst, one of the initiators of ConTech. In addition to Byggtjänst, the Smart Built Environment project Bygg 4.0 is also behind it, with Nordbygg as sponsor.
Robots, drones, apps and so on
One of the innovations presented was a gypsum robot, which Build-R have made. It is an expert at mounting gypsum boards. A heavy job that wears human workers out, but is perfect for strong robots. A solution with drones was shown by Spotscale. The drone scans reality and Information Experience adds layers of information and hey presto there is a 3D model which is both reality and blueprint and with extra information added.
A third innovation example was the app Loop Rocks. A fast, cheap and environmentally friendly way of getting rid of landfill. Already, it is the Nordics’ largest market place for landfill with more than 10,000 members in Sweden.
With Nordic ConTech, the innovation ball was really set in motion. For Nordbygg, it will continue rolling.
Nordic ConTech is an important investment. It fits the Nordbygg concept perfectly and will therefore have a central position at the fair in 2020 as well, says Peter Söderberg.
– The industry’s need for technical development is great and therefore, we work to spread the knowledge of Nordic ConTech to even more people. The ambition for Nordbygg 2020 is that we will be able to offer exhibitors and visitors a whole innovation arena, he says.
